Community Assessment Process - Training is provided on the “how” to conduct a comprehensive community assessment. Included in this training is: what data to collect, how to attain it; sources of data; analysis; drawing conclusions/decision-making; and establishing long-term goals and objectives. Self-Assessment Process -Using a PRISM based assessment tool, each area of a Head Start program is assessed verifying the findings of the local program’s self-assessment. We provide on-site training and technical assistance for program corrective actions. A detailed report is provided with guidance and recommendation outlined. Fiscal Management - We provide the nuts-and-bolts of the fiscal operations of HS with specific emphasis on the federal rules, regulations and executive orders. Our training focuses on building relationships between the Head Start director and tribal fiscal operations. Content Area Service Planning/Development - Technical assistance is provided that assists a program in designing content areas service systems that results in a content area plan, service documentation and tracking and organizational structure that supports implementation of quality services. Recordkeeping and Reporting - We provide TA to support programs in demonstrating accountability. Using a systems perspective, we can review your existing systems; make recommendations on using data tracking systems, reducing redundancy in reporting. We concentrate on policies and procedures for maintaining confidentiality and safe-guarding records. Program Information Report (PIR) - Struggling with the PIR? We provide guidance on the development of the HS Program Information Report with one-to-one error checks prior to submitting the PIR to the HSB. Preparing for the PRISM - Is your federal onsite review approaching rapidly? We can assist HS program in preparing for an on-site federal review. Our assistance will provide plans and strategies that ready a program to show case their successes and guide in eliminating concerns and issues affecting program compliance. PDM Management Systems Development - Have you been tacking “systems” and are struggling? We can guide and direct you in establishing and/or revising the 8 management support systems required of a HS program. TFA provides analysis on how the current systems are working with the Head Start Performance Standards; identify gaps in the systems; and development of a training/communication plan for getting all staff on board to the new and improved management systems. Full Grant Application Process - HS management staff are provided a step-to-step process in planning, developing and writing a full grant application. Based upon a completed community and self-assessment, our services will end with a draft full grant application ready for your internal review process. Program Governance - A full training programs is provided for tribal leadership, Policy Council representatives, staff, parents and volunteers on the roles and responsibilities with the shared decision-making process; program governance structure; 4 kinds of parent participation, and; parent committee roles and responsibilities. National Reporting System - TFA provides training and technical assistance on the National Reporting System, administer the NRS assessment, and report the data for the NRS web-based computer information system. Early Literacy and Language - T/TA in language and literacy development of young children is provided to teaching staff and parents. We concentrate on; stages of language development; providing strategies to integrate literacy concepts and functions throughout the learning environment; and providing mentoring for the Early Literacy Mentor Coach. Social Emotional Development - We provide training and technical assistance on promoting social emotional competence in young children as a means of preventing challenging behaviors to Head Start staff and parents. This training consists of practical strategies on preventive practices, social-emotional teaching strategies and individualized intensive interventions. Mental Health Consultation - We provide mental health consultation that will assist your program in exceeding the Head Start Program Performance Standards. Services include: assist in planning mental health activities; train staff and provide education to parents about mental health issues; observe and perform screenings for classrooms or for individual children; assist parents and staff in treatment activities; and facilitate linkages with community mental health resources. Disabilities Services - We assists in providing quality disabilities services to children with disabilities and their families by: assisting grantees with the planning and implementation of service plans, observation and recording systems, identification, and collaboration with Local Education Authorities. Quality Improvement Plans - Our staff can assist in the timely development of plans to address deficiencies found by the Federal Monitoring. Plans include the following: outcomes designed to bring your program into compliance; action steps to achieve outcomes, parties responsible for outcomes, and deadlines for their completion; and resources and partnerships that will be needed to achieve desired outcomes. TFA will support your staff as they carry out these corrective action plans, assess progress, create alternative strategies as needed, and counsel staff on how to report results to funding agency. Planning for Technology ( Management and Classroom) - Wanting to enter the technology world? TFA staff can assist with technology plans; development of policies and procedures; conduct a needs assessment of equipment and skills of personnel; and identify strategies for integrating technology into the program. We can provide you guidance in the use of HS specific software and searching the internet for valuable and reliable information on early childhood education and development.
